Psalms 34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
2007 has been a year of broken things. Broken cars, broken computers, just leave a thing alone for a while.. don’t even use it and eventually it will wear down. But none of things things move me, what moves me is a broken heart. I am trusting The Lord to give me a broken heart, one that seeks first His kingdom and righteousness. A lot of things have taken place over the past year, far too many to mention, but that past is forever gone so it matters not. I now look ahead and press on to gain the prize, the Jewel, the reality of a sanctified life in Jesus Christ.
Why do people shun Christianity? The hypocrisy? What other excuses can you give (many right)? I look at it like this: Christianity is like a big cliff overlooking a large lake. At the bottom of the lake is eternal life, but no-one believes you because the thought is absurd to most people. You tell them to get to eternal life you must jump in and sink to the bottom of the lake and then you will reach this eternal life. You must trust the owner of the lake with your very life. As a matter of fact the more you fight and wrestle the less you will sink and the more you will float back to the top (which is the world with all its comforts). You need to trust Jesus as you sink (in your selfish self-life) and abandon the fears of the water surrounding you. Looking at others who have panic’d and are wildly clawing upwards to the surface will not help you to trust Jesus. Be prepared to lose yourself in the water and find Jesus more and more. If you trust Him, you will reach the bottom (yes with much difficulty). He who would save his life will lose it but he who loses his life for Jesus’ sake will gain life eternal.
Oh Lord Jesus, give me a broken and a contrite heart for a lost and dieing world!
