The Cost of Compromise

2 Chronicles 15:2

And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.

Often times we face emotional expereinces that pull us into a particular direction of thought. The above text precedes an expereince of purging out the bad and enforcing a covenant of obediance with God. The land was subdued to the point where King Asa even dealt ruthlessly with his own idolatrous mother, stripping her from being Queen and destroying her idol. By God's pre-warning usually follows a test as it did in the next chapter. Unfortunately a series of events took place, Asa made emotional decisions and hardened his heart when he was corrected and his final state written in the bible for all eternity is:

2 Chronicles 16:12 And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians.

When we know what to do (which the Bible always gives direction) but we make an emotional decision, we can only expect a fleshly outcome. A fleshly choice = a fleshly result whereas a spirit lead choice = a Spirit lead result. Compromise is like a tasty treat on the table of life, and the unwaery wanderer assumes it to come for a free price because there is no price tag attached. Indeed the price is great and the consequences follow. May the Lord Jesus grant us the Grace to follow the same direction as Moses:

Hebrews 11:25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

May we resist sin unto blood striving against it and follow the Lord Jesus Christ.
